What is quality management?

The central principle of continuous improvement!

As a successful company, we are committed to this principle and have aligned our quality management (QM) accordingly. The QM structures are based on the requirements of patients, their relatives and our employees as well as the economic and legal framework conditions.

Our daily work is geared towards defined goals, and we involve all of our employees in planning and implementation. We endeavour to further develop processes and structures.

We support the quality assurance measures through

    • internal audits
    • Participation in external audits
    • Support for change projects
    • Coordination and optimisation of processes
    • Identifying risks, e.g. in relation to patient safety
    • Recording and analysing feedback (e.g. from patients, relatives, referring physicians)
    • Implementation of a structured complaints management system
    • Up-to-date information and a defined communication structure

The best possible quality for patients - that is an important goal for the GFO Group. And hospitals in particular have to meet strict quality criteria. But how does this work in practice?

The GFO's central quality management supports the individual hospitals in the network, e.g. in improving operational processes. From admission to discharge, smooth processes are ensured for patients. Quality management in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001 2015 makes the internal organisation transparent and efficient in all areas.

All employees at the GFO clinics pull together for the benefit of the patients and deliver the highest possible quality in their daily work. Ensuring and constantly improving quality standards requires committed employees. We can only achieve the further development of our company with the support of qualified and committed employees. They are involved in the organisation of processes at GFO.

GFO's quality policy is based on a corporate culture with Christian roots and values. It is geared towards a holistic understanding that combines efficient and economical hospital care with the needs of patients and employees.

What does this mean for patients?

When patients feel well looked after, cared for and treated, then that is tangible quality. Therefore, the expectations and needs of patients in a hospital are essential. GFO's quality management team is constantly working on improvement processes and on identifying and minimising problems and sources of error.

    Patients' opinions are in demand!

The opinion of patients is important to the GFO. This is the only way to learn from experience. Patients are therefore given a questionnaire when they are admitted so that they can share their opinion. This can be placed in the designated letterboxes or handed in to ward staff. In addition, the head of GFO quality management is also available for a personal discussion.

    What is risk management?

Risk management is the open discussion of possible risks and errors!

For us, clinical risk management means being alert to potential sources of error. Our structured risk management enables us to recognise risks at an early stage and initiate measures that can prevent errors and their consequences.

Key components of our risk management include

      • Internal reporting system for near-miss incidents (CIRS)
      • Medical and nursing treatment based on evidence-based medical and nursing guidelines
      • Emergency training
      • Patient identification wristbands
      • Morbidity & mortality conferences
      • Guidelines for handling medication (request, storage, administration)
      • Comprehensive hygiene/equipment and building management with constant checks in place
